JOB TITLE: 

Bakery Assistant

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Prepare and bake all bakery items for the menu and catered events following standardized recipes. Assist the chef in other food prep as needed.  The Baker always works with special attention to freshness, speed, cleanliness, and organization while carrying out daily duties.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare cookies, cakes, bars, pies, bread, pizza dough, focaccia, granola, quick breads, pancake mix, and other pastries from established recipes.

Bake “bake off” breads and foods.

Follow daily baking schedule.

Rotate dry refrigerated and frozen stock to maintain fresh product.

Put food deliveries away.

Clean the kitchen and baking equipment, small wares, ovens, mixers, counters, shelves, and refrigeration units as necessary.

 

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Excellent attention to detail.

Ability to use scales to measure ingredients.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice.

Ability to take initiative.

Problem-solving skills.

Eagerness to learn.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Pangea strives to provide a pleasant, safe working environment.  The kitchen is, however, a hot place to work and most of the day is spent standing.  There is a good deal of lifting required; you must be able to lift 60 pounds.
